The phone number flap

The numbers you dial on your phone are NOT private, and the police or the NSA can get them by just asking. Says who? Why the US Supreme Court, of course, in 1979! See U.S. Supreme Court SMITH v. MARYLAND, 442 U.S. 735 (1979)

Duh! of course they can! The worse thing is that the reporting on the story does not relate this important FACT. It's not a he said/she said opinion, it's a FACT. Very similar to the reporting on the Guard on the Border story - they won't be "patrolling" for example. Argh.
